Jacob's Sherman Tank

When Jacob said he wanted a gun transformer (meaning a tank, I soon found out), I immediately started thinking about how to make telescoping guns. What is cooler than machine guns that can zoom in and out depending on the range of the target?! I found myself in a familiar aisle at home depot comparing dowel diameters and trying to figure out what the best two would be...I came up with 7/8" for the outside of the gun and 5/16" for the inside part. I would tell you exactly how I made them but I think it would bore or confuse you, so let me just say that there's a stop hooked to the part that telescopes so that it doesn't come all the way out. Jacob hates losing his guns and really liked this arrangement. There are three guns on this guy, one that can move left to right (all the way around), and two that can point straight up and rotate 180 degrees.
See the tank with guns in:And telescoped out (it's not a huge difference):And transformed into a man (this one is a bad guy, Jacob says):
And here is the bounty from my peach tree:Eight cups of sliced, peeled peaches. This maybe represents a quarter of the fruit that the tree produced, sadly birds got most of the rest. I am just excited to have this much for a first harvest! Don't they look pretty?

And a picture to show that I'm back in the saddle again. With boots. Heart rate up, knuckles white, not exactly sure if I even like this anymore, but at least I'm driving, right? Driving slower...without mud or trees or sharp hidden corners.
