My Job

Beau playing trains with Marianne. He loves to hold her.

"Think about your particular assignment at this time in your life. It may be to get an education, it may be to rear children in righteousness, it may be to be a grandparent, it may be to care for and relieve the suffering of someone you love, it may be to do a job in the most excellent way possible, it may be to support someone who has a difficult assignment of their own. Our assignments are varied and they change from time to time. Don't take them lightly. Give them your full heart and energy. Do them with enthusiasm. Do whatever you have to do this week with your whole heart and soul. To do less than this will leave you with an empty feeling."
- Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I read this quote on Sunday and loved it. I have really been grateful for the realization that this time with a new baby is just a moment in eternity and I need to savor it and enjoy it (and in the case of breastfeeding, endure it graciously until it doesn't hurt). I don't have to feel responsible to anyone but my own family right now, I don't have to be doing a million projects, I don't have to commit to anything. It's a very liberating feeling!
My particular assignments right now?
Feed Marianne.
Play with Beau.
Talk with Bekah and Jacob about anything they want.
Kiss Rus.
Clean every now and then...:)

And now...Some fun things going on:
Marianne went to school for show and tell this week, to Bekah and Jacob's classes. They all oohed and aahed over her little hands and feet and all her hair...my favorite question came from a girl in Jacob's class: "What do you do with her all day?"

We rented our house out in Los Lunas, Hooray!! It has taken about a month and a half but we feel really good about our renters...if only they didn't want the kids' bedrooms painted white (they don't have kids)...

Marianne loves to have her hands in her face. She also loves to suck on anything that strays by her mouth. Here she is sucking on her thumb and enjoying her hands...Cracks me up!

I love your job (and my job :)...and the quote that puts it in perspective. Sis. Hinckley sure has plenty of words of wisdom out there.
I saw your mom at the RS broadcast and got to meet her because she stopped and talked to my mother-in-law (who was standing by me). I felt like I totally knew her (I get to read about her on your blog all the time!) and realized she probably had no clue who I was...I mean, why would she? But anyway, she is so GORGEOUS! Seriously. And you can tell her I said that, too.

She is the BEST show and tell present ever! Yes, yes...I agree lady....your schedule seems just right, and you don't need to add anything to it!

Keri Payne, I'm so glad we're friends. Why can't we be friends in close proximity? We would be so great together! I've been reading your blog for like the last hour. Your writing enthralls me. Congrats on your new baby too! She looks like a perfect future bride for my little Reed. And, if you still want to go into labor on your own, have one more. They come early and fast on the fifth try!
